Brad Binder and KTM break Kyalami’s lap record, the South African way possible

South Africa is an amazing country and worth a visit for the wildlife alone (but beware, hippos are faster than they look). But for motorcycle fans, a visit to the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit and a few laps isn’t enough. It’s sacred and one of motorsport’s best kept secrets. A beautiful sweeping track that flows with elevation, Kyalami is in my top 5 tracks in the world and should be on your bucket list. It’s certainly a circuit we haven’t talked about enough. One reason is that it’s been a long time since Kyalami saw international motorcycle racing at its pinnacle. Interestingly, the African track was updated in 2015, but the new layout does not technically have an established lap record. That’s where Brad Binder and Red Bull come in. The KTM RC16 should be quick around Kyalami’s 16 turns, especially with a MotoGP rider at the helm, and all in all good marketing. Whether or not their results count as official is up for debate, but the ‘making of’ video of this laptime attempt is

Where does Breen go from here? – Dartfish

Craig is a better professional driver than this. Frankly, he’s not the first person to go through this process. Sébastien Ogier, himself an eight-time champion of his own, had a scary time in 2009, but then something happened. He took his second place in Greece and then less than a year later he was winning the WRC round. Also, sometimes you don’t click. In my opinion, François Duval was one of the most talented drivers of his generation. There was something special about him. When he crashed in his 2005 at Cyprus, his co-driver Stéphane Prevost told him in no uncertain terms to stay in the car and do nothing. As Prevot ran up the stage to slow down the next car, he heard the Xsara WRC flip over. next? you got it Leaf caught and took Citroen. !function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s) {if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function(){n.callMethod? n.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments)}; if(!f._fbq)f._fbq=n;n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version=’2.0′; n.queue=[];t=b.createElement(e);t.async=!0; t
