Brad Binder and KTM break Kyalami’s lap record, the South African way possible
South Africa is an amazing country and worth a visit for the wildlife alone (but beware, hippos are faster than they look). But for motorcycle fans, a visit to the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit and a few laps isn’t enough. It’s sacred and one of motorsport’s best kept secrets. A beautiful sweeping track that flows with elevation, Kyalami is in my top 5 tracks in the world and should be on your bucket list. It’s certainly a circuit we haven’t talked about enough. One reason is that it’s been a long time since Kyalami saw international motorcycle racing at its pinnacle. Interestingly, the African track was updated in 2015, but the new layout does not technically have an established lap record. That’s where Brad Binder and Red Bull come in. The KTM RC16 should be quick around Kyalami’s 16 turns, especially with a MotoGP rider at the helm, and all in all good marketing.
