WRC Rally Japan New Stadium Super Special

Event organizers today revealed that an all-new face-to-face asphalt stage will be built inside the 45,000-capacity Toyota Stadium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

The new stage will be part of the rally schedule, with the field competing in front of sold-out crowds once a day from Thursday to Saturday.

Last year, Toyota Stadium hosted the event’s start and finish ceremonies, and the entire area functioned as a service park for the rally. This will continue at this year’s event, which takes place November 16-19.

The move to create a new in-person spectator stage for this year’s WRC trip to Japan follows the successful return of the Stadium Super Special at last year’s Acropolis Rally in Greece. To kick off the event, he witnessed a crowd of 65,000 cars go head-to-head inside the Athens Olympic Stadium.

Rally Japan organizers have also confirmed that fans will be able to purchase special tickets that will allow them to walk the track before the cars take the stage. This year’s rally will be contested on 22 asphalt stages.

Japan returned to the WRC calendar last year for the first time in 12 years. Thierry Neuville beat Ott Tänak to a 1-2 win for Hyundai in his final appearance before joining M-Sport Ford in 2023.
