Alpine and Lotus announce exit from sports car joint venture

Alpine doesn’t keep Lotus dry. Geely owns Lotus and Lynk & Co, Zeekr, Volvo and, importantly, Polestar. Geely has traditionally kept its various brands separate, but in recent years it has become more shared. Polestar has several SUVs and crossovers that Lotus can take advantage of.

Interestingly, Geely and Renault have their own joint venture called “Horse”. Like Porsche and his BMW, the French brand hasn’t finished developing internal combustion engines yet and has launched this new venture to create more efficient internal combustion and hybrid powertrains. Both automakers are fully committed to electrification, so it remains to be seen how this will affect Alpine and Lotus in the future.
