Custom V-Twin Bobber “Gold Rush”

When we got word that we would be back and exhibiting at the 2022 AIMExpo in Las Vegas, we immediately started thinking about what we could show at our booth. The conversation quickly turned to Custom his bike, and our own. Jackie Van Ham was only a man.

Las Vegas resident Mike Labideau built “Gold Rush” about a decade ago, but his custom V-twin looked brand new to us when we saw it on TV. AIM Expo Show floor. Rabideau owns his own shop. Magic Mike design, where he produces breathtaking garage-built vintage Harleys for customers. Located just a mile north of the Vegas Strip, waiting to see his next build It attracts loyal customers and enthusiastic fans. Gold Rush is one of his first.

When it comes to custom bike builds, there are very few standards that builders must follow to distinguish one from the rest. An even harder task is building an eye-catching custom his bike that can be used regularly as an everyday driver and cruiser.

“Of all the bikes I own, I probably get the most miles on it,” says Rabideau. “It’s a small short little bobber bike with a small tank. Obviously we’re not going to cross the country with this thing. Just ride around town and for Vegas these bikes aren’t very well known around town. , this bike grabs attention when it comes out, it’s definitely one of my favorites and shows my style.”

Powering the motorcycle is a 124 cubic inch V-Twin engine from Total Performance Engineering paired with an open belt drive and some custom piping done by Rabideau. Rabideau said the rest of the bike with such a big engine is basically tuned for the engine.

The gooseneck front end gives the bike a distinctive look and adds 2.5 inches to the front, allowing for 19 inches. Front wheel and small 16 inches. wheels behind.

Right before AIME, Labido completed the bike’s latest touches, including a new gas tank and new paintwork.

“It’s basically a second rendition of the first paint job,” he says. “He’s a friend of Liquid Illusions, made for me by Daron. The gold leaf is completely new, and the extra gold stripes around the black are all new.”

“There is no front brake, but otherwise standard shifting. It’s a little tricky for people in the department.”

Next time you’re in Las Vegas, watch out for the ‘gold rush’ near the Strip.
