Scammers Target Online Bicycle Sales

As soon as I posted the 2018 Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport on the online job site, I started receiving replies from scammers.

They have come through email, phone messages, and various social media platforms.

The shortest is:

Hello, what is your address?

The longest and most elaborate started with:

G’day mate, what’s the status quo and why are you selling it?

I hesitated to reply and received the following follow-up.

Thanks for the quick response and since I am buying this for the villa, I also advise on the minimum amount you would like to give it due to the nature of my work and location … I can’t come to the inspection, I’m a very busy type because I work long hours every day, I went through your ad, and I’m happy with it. After payment, the courier will pick you up … Payment will be made by PayPal. Please let us know the details of PayPal. You can process payments. Alternatively, if you don’t have a PayPal account, you can also send us your bsb and account number. Please inquire about your account number, account name, and BSB number.

Obviously, these are details that you should never reveal to unknown sources.

The best advice I can give you is that if it looks too good to be true, it’s a scam. So ignore it.

In 2021, 286,000 Australians were scammed for $ 323 million, an increase of 84% compared to 2020.

This rise is due to an increase in online shopping due to the blockade of Covid.

Scammers aren’t just targeting riders trying to market their bikes.

Buyers are also eligible.

Here is an example. Bicycles are offered at very low prices by members of the army (usually women) who need to sell immediately as they are shipped abroad.

Buyers are required to submit payments to their escrow account. The escrow account will eventually become a bank account in Eastern Europe or Africa and the vehicle will not be delivered.

Other seller scams include bicycles that are unsafe to ride, have hidden history, or have been stolen.

The best way to defeat scammers is to pay attention to low prices and quick sales.

Do not complete your purchase or sale online. Always meet the seller or buyer in person.

Make all the checks related to the good intentions of the bike. Click here for more information..

If the buyer wishes to pay to a third party or escrow account, they will be asked to select an account.

Ducati for sale

Ducati 1100 Scrambler Sport

If you want to know why I sell my beloved Ducati, this is the current record, just because I haven’t owned a bike for more than two years.

This is a model with Orleans suspenders that are fully adjustable back and forth. If you’ve never biked in Orleans before, you’re missing something special.

I sell it for $ A15,900, but there are some additional features: Australia-Invented and Manufactured Dynamoto Front and rear stands ($ 750 worth) that allow both wheels to be off the ground and pushed sideways with rollers. Nelson-Rigg tail bagThe QuadLock phone holder and bar-end mirror match black and gold.

The watch is 28,871 km, the new chain and sprockets, and the Pirelli Angel GT tires are just a few thousand kilometers.

Call me … Don’t expect to reveal all the bank details.
