Volvo S60 sedans receive a limited “Black Edition”

Volvo is producing a limited number of S60 sedans in a special “black edition” configuration for the 2022 model.

The S60 Black Edition will be limited to “less than 450 vehicles produced in the 2022 model” scheduled to arrive at some dealerships this spring. It’s unclear if this edition will return to the next model year.

The Black Edition, as the name implies, incorporates black accents, trims and badges into the S60. One of the most striking features is the high-gloss black 19-inch wheels. The front grille has a similar finish, with a Volvo badge at the beginning of the front fascia. The sides are contrasted by the wheels mentioned above and the black window trim.

On the back of the Black Edition, there are more glossy badges such as Volvo’s wordmark, model name, motor designation and more. The tail pipe of the vehicle will also be darkened.

All of these bits are in stark contrast to the crystal white metallic paints available. However, stealth consumers can choose to use onyx black metallic lacquer until midnight. The opposite of these is the only two color options available on Black Edition vehicles.

The Black Edition package is applicable to S60 Recharge plug-in hybrid models, and Momentum and R-Design trims. Manufactured at the Volvo Cars plant in Ridgeville, South Carolina, the S60 Black Edition is specifically designed for the US market and is expected to start at around $ 40,000.
