2022 KTM890 Duke GP First Look

In 2022, KTM will introduce the 890 Duke GP as a naked tribute to its GP racing efforts.

The 890 Duke GP is closely related to the 890 Duke R “Super Female”. In other words, it uses KTM’s LC8c (liquid-cooled, 8-valve, compact) parallel 2-cylinder. Owners can add Quickshift + to invert the shift linkage into a one-up five-down pattern to fully convey GP inspiration.

The Austrians haven’t released the full specs for this motorcycle, including important details such as weight and price, but have revealed the alleged 114 horsepower. Oddly enough, the Duke R sister model produces the claimed 119 horsepower. While blasting one of the 890 Duke models on Canyon Road, the power difference shouldn’t be noticeable. The 889 cc engine is mounted on a steel trellis frame with a typical KTM style aluminum subframe.

Most of the differences in the 890 Duke GP are cosmetic changes to push the bike’s look in a more aggressive direction. The unique graphic package is reminiscent of the war paint worn by KTM’s MotoGP racing machines. The color-matched seat cowl on the tail reminds the potential pillion that the passenger seat is there only in an emergency. Two-up tourers, GPs are not.

The lightweight wheels are inherited from the R model, but the diameter of the front brake discs has been reduced from 320mm on the 890 Duke R to 300mm. Ride modes and safety features are all the same for the two models. That is, the GP gets a 6D cornering MTC that constantly analyzes lean, pitch, and even drift. If desired, you can disable the cornering MTC. Stock ride modes are street, sport and rain, and like any other KTM model, the optional track mode is available as an upgrade. The Color TFT Dash has menus for adjusting throttle control, wheelie settings, supermoto mode, traction control and more.

The 790 Duke line has been completely abolished at this stage. The 890 Duke GP’s spec seats are a bit less powerful and the front discs are a bit smaller, so the GP is a Team Orange Entry Street Twin with a suggested retail price of close to or less than $ 11,999 for the R. The 890 Duke GP will reach US dealers by April 2022.
