Charged EV | Amprius Si-Nanowire Anode Reduces Charging Time

Battery maker Amplius Technologies’ mission is to reduce EV charging time. The company’s Amprius Extreme Fast Charge feature is made possible by a unique Si-Nanowire anode. It is thinner and lighter than traditional graphite anodes and has much higher conductivity due to the higher electrical conduction between the silicon and the current collector. The Si-Nanowire anode structure also features very low tortuosity.

According to Amprius, Extreme Fast Charge is available in battery cells that are currently in commercial production and is currently used in a variety of products, including power-hungry drone applications. The battery cell provides a specific energy of 370 Wh / kg to support applications that require very high sustained power levels.

“The need to reduce charging times goes far beyond the fast-growing EV market to the broader electrical mobility market, including micromobility and aviation,” said Jon Bornstein, COO of Amprius. I am.
