CDC reduces recommended quarantine and quarantine period for COVID-19 in the general population

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has revised the recommended period for individuals who have been tested positive for COVID-19 or who have been in close contact with people who are positive for COVID-19. The CDC explained that the reason for the change is based on science showing that the virus is transmitted early in the disease, generally 1-2 days before and 2-3 days after the onset of symptoms.

The CDC has grouped individuals into two general categories based on their degree of vaccination status. The beginning Categories include individuals who are considered more protected from the virus and include individuals who have done one of the following: Or (2) have been vaccinated with either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine twice within the last 6 months. Or (3) One dose of J & J vaccine was given within the last 2 months.

Dealers must continue to protect their employees and customers by implementing the following public health and safety recommendations:

1. Companies are encouraged to follow the CDC’s safety guidelines and social distance to save lives and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
2. Most indoor workplaces do not require a mask. However, companies should encourage unvaccinated employees, customers, and guests to wear masks.
3. If the employer needs masks and gloves, the company is encouraged to provide them to the employee.
4. Companies are encouraged to provide approved sanitary materials to employees and visitors free of charge.
5. Employees need to practice hand hygiene, and employers need to provide employees with sufficient breaks for that purpose.
6. Regular cleaning and disinfection of all high touch areas and service waiting areas of the showroom is recommended according to DOH and CDC guidelines.
7. Disinfect the vehicle before and after service, test drive and delivery.
8. Prior to each shift, employers are encouraged to perform daily health checks such as temperature screening, visual symptom checks, self-assessment checklists, and / or health questionnaires, consistent with CDC guidance.
9. Employers are encouraged to keep sick employees out of the workplace and to comply with applicable vacation law requirements.
10. Encourage sick employees to stay home.
11. Employers should immediately notify their employees of known exposures to COVID-19 in the workplace.

NJ CAR recommends placing signs that encourage unvaccinated people to wear masks, at least at the entrance to the store and prominently throughout the store.
